The heart of Paris is full of surprises, and even the seasoned visitor can turn a corner to find a building with ornate stonework and delicate wrought iron balconies or hidden away park with sun shining on the perfect little bench for a rest, or perhaps even a new café with tables beckoning you to sit awhile and soak up the atmosphere that is so very unique to Paris. This is the Paris that we love to discover since it is always tempting and luring us to fall in love just a little bit more. One neighborhood to add to your list to explore the next time you’re in Paris is the 15th arrondissement around Rue du Commerce. This is a thriving residential area that is very popular with locals for its excellent central location, outstanding open-air markets, charming streets and setting just off the tourist radar. It’s also home to one of the best hidden shopping streets in Paris – Rue du Commerce!
Tucked away on a cobblestone street just a pleasant stroll from the Champ de Mars gardens and only around the corner from Rue du Commerce, the lovely Carignan is the perfect home base for discovering a truly Parisian Paris during your holiday. This vacation rental features two bedrooms, a sunny living room with dining area, a fully remodeled kitchen and bathroom and even a view of the top of the Eiffel Tower nearby. Sit back in the evenings and enjoy the Eiffel Tower sparkling … which you can also see from both bedrooms!
The Carignan is set in a modern apartment complex very near Rue du Commerce, which is our favorite hidden shopping street in Paris. You’ll fall in love with this neighborhood as you stroll down the street lined with a marvelous selection of fashion boutiques, bakeries, specialty shops and tons of cafés and restaurants. One of the things we love the most about this street is its intimate scale and not too busy one-way street, which means you can easily criss-cross it to pop into the shops that catch your eye.
Rue du Commerce is where Parisians come to shop and you’ll likely see fashionable ladies out shopping or moms with their young kids doing some shopping for school. You’ll find the French classics mixed with international favorites and unique one-off boutiques. It’s a wonderful blend! There’s also a huge, two-level Monoprix, which is fun shopping experience in France as well as a great spot to stop for groceries on the way home.
But it’s not just fashion you’ll find along Rue du Commerce. There are also specialty food shops, the delicious scent of freshly baked divine breads from Eric Kayser, tempting displays of sweets at the local patisseries and lovely little cafés that exude Parisian charm. Stop in for fresh cheese at the nearby fromager—a must in France—and hit the spot with a latte from Starbucks for a taste of home … all just a short stroll from your Parisian home away from home!
Step out from the apartment complex entrance and you’ll find a pretty little cobblestone street leading to Rue du Commerce nearby. The location is ideal – just around the corner from the Metro at Place du Commerce and the best shopping and dining spots along Rue du Commerce. You’ll discover just why Parisians love this neighborhood right away!
The pretty Place du Commerce park is right at the end of the street near the Carignan. You’ll find the metro nearby, which is a wonderful feature! Walk just a few blocks to catch the 42 bus—one of the best sightseeing buses in Paris—to reach the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde and more top sights. Or catch the 70 bus nearby to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Pont Neuf and the Ile de la Cité to see Notre Dame, and the Louvre Museum. Or simply hop on the 80 bus for a scenic trip across Paris all the way to Montmartre! The Carignan is well situated for exploring all the top sights in Paris while at the same time giving you the chance to stay in an authentic Parisian neighborhood.
While many visitors haven’t heard of the 15th arrondissement, it borders the Champ de Mars gardens and Eiffel Tower. You’ll be just a short walk or a bus ride from the Eiffel Tower, Ecole Militaire and the Champ de Mars and centrally located very close to the Metro and great bus lines so you can easily reach all the top spots in Paris.
