Paris Marathon

The Paris Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2013

This Sunday the 37th Marathon de Paris is set to take to the streets of Paris. With over 50,000 registered runners, it’s a grand event and one of the most beautiful marathons that attracts runners from around the world. Usually drawing runners from over 100 nations, the Paris marathon is one of the five biggest marathons in the world, along with New York, Berlin, London and Chicago. Not only is there the prestige of running in the Paris Marathon, but there’s also the fine sightseeing along the way. The marathon route passes along some of the most famous streets and goes past iconic Paris landmarks, such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Elysées, Place de la Concorde, Rue de Rivoli, Place de la Bastille and through the beautiful Bois de Vincennes woods and along the Seine past the Notre-Dame Cathedral and Eiffel Tower. What a route!

For more information on the Paris Marathon route, visit their website here. Two years ago one of our team ran in the marathon and shared some photos of his experience with us on the Paris Perfect Blog. It’s an unforgettable experience for runners, and we wish for the same great weather for the runners in the Paris Marathon this weekend!

Paris Marathon 7th arrondissement

Catch the Paris Marathon as it passes near your Paris vacation rental!

Even if you don’t know someone running in the Paris Marathon, it’s a lot of fun to join the crowds cheering the runners along. If you’re staying in our vacation rentals in the 7th arrondissement, simply cross the Seine to the Right Bank where the route passes right along the Seine from near Ile Saint Louis all the way past the Eiffel Tower. Or head to the Champs-Elysees for the kick off of the marathon in the morning. The weather is predicted to be partly sunny without a chance of rain, so head out and enjoy the fun of the Paris Marathon this weekend!

I tried to get a hotel for this weekend in the Ille-de-France, but it was nearly impossibly, although I crawled all the websites like http://www.trivago.com . However, it would just have been a weekend trip with my boyfriend, not a business trip, so we can come at another time. I would never join the marathon, though, I’m not as fit as I should be.

Hello Madison, Thanks for your comment! I’d never make it through the Paris Marathon either. 🙂 I’m sorry you had so much trouble finding a place to stay during the Marathon weekend. Next time you’re planning a trip, check out our What’s On in Paris webpages to have a head’s up on events that might attract huge crowds. Thanks!
