The Roland Garros 2012 French Open has gotten off to an exciting start this year, and as usual this annual Grand Slam tournament is drawing attention from tennis fans around the world. One of the most famous tennis tournaments in the world, sitting in the stadium and watching some of the world’s top players on court is a once in a lifetime experience. If you weren’t able to get tickets for this year’s Roland Garros, there are still fun ways to enjoy the atmosphere of the French Open.
Again this year visitors to Paris can enjoy Roland Garros in the City, a special event that brings the excitement and fun of the French Open right into the center of Paris. The large Place de l’Hôtel de Ville in front of Paris’ beautiful City Hall (where the ice skating rink is set up in the winter) is transformed into an area dedicated to tennis where visitors can enjoy tennis related games, activities, watch matches live on the huge screen and even get a feel of the French Open’s iconic clay court in a specially installed court. The events are all free to enjoy and are sponsored by the French Tennis Federation. Roland Garros in the City runs from Saturday, May 26th through Sunday, June 10th. If you’re traveling in Paris, head to the Hôtel de Ville in the 4th arrondissement to experience the excitement of the French Open in the heart of Paris!
