Description of our Paris vacation rental

If you’re shopping for Paris vacation rentals with pizzazz, comfort, and convenience, you can’t go wrong with our Sauternes Paris vacation rental apartment, a truly sumptuous 800 square foot two-bedroom, two-bathroom home that has been totally and exquisitely remodeled in high style to comfortably accommodate five people. Unlike most Paris vacation rentals, Sauternes has two balconies, one off the master bedroom and a longer one off the living room that features a bistro table and two chairs for dining al fresco on warm evenings. And the views are uncommon as well. Because of the building’s corner location at the end of a charming ‘hidden’ street, similar to a cul-de-sac, Sauternes’ building is set further back than most buildings in Paris, so the views of the beautiful Haussman-style building across the street are more open. When we realized that the views from this Paris vacation rental offered such a feeling of space, which is very rare in the Marais, we bought it on the spot. We immediately named the apartment Sauternes, after the sweet white dessert wine produced in the Bordeaux wine-making area of France. This wine is so rich and intense that it is often served as a dessert all by itself, just like the experience you’ll have savoring the sweet views and amenities of this richly appointed Paris vacation rental.

In addition to its unique setting and interior beauty, Sauternes’ historic Marais location means the vacation rental is centered in a veritable museum of architectural styles. During the 16th and 17th centuries, French noblemen and the bourgeoisie built magnificent one-family houses, many resembling genuine palaces, so that today Marais offers one of the richest architectural assemblages of Paris. It is simply delightful to stroll its main streets taking in the stunning facades, and some of Paris’s most popular museums are now housed within its elegant mansions. Another plus is its proximity to famous landmarks such as the famous Place des Vosges, Paris’s first major architectural ensemble, only three blocks away from the vacation rental. And the apartment is just a few blocks from the Musée Picasso and the Musée Carnavalet. There are very few Paris vacation rentals from which you can take a leisurely stroll to the Seine, Notre Dame, and the Louvre. You’ll also find the vacation rental neighborhood to be teeming with intimate boutiques and interesting galleries as well as small cafés and trendy restaurants.

Take the elevator to the second floor (third floor American, with elevator) and step into the entryway of our Sauternes Paris vacation rental. This Paris vacation rental entryway is very welcoming with its beautifully refinished oak parquet floor, high ceiling, and the white, antique-style side table that sits below a charming ‘mirrored’ window frame and shutters mounted on the wall. Two lamps with burnt orange shades sit atop the table and light up this space, as does the beautiful chandelier we procured from Denmark.

Walk straight ahead into the richly appointed dining room/kitchen of our Paris vacation rental which also features a beautifully refinished oak parquet floor. This bright and spacious room has a long dining table, made of dark wood and sandblasted glass, which seats up to eight people on comfortably upholstered matching chairs. On the right side of this room in our Sauternes Paris vacation rental is the thoroughly modern kitchen, pleasingly decorated with a long, dark gray worktop, blond wood cabinets, and stainless steel fixtures and appliances. Most of the upper cabinet doors are made of matching sandblasted glass and, when illuminated at night along with the under-the-counter recessed lighting and the beautiful chandelier above the dining table, the effect is quite dramatic. Adding to this Paris vacation rental room’s impressive décor is an oversize fresco from Italy framed by two whimsical rabbit wall hooks on one side of the room, and an antique round window frame converted to a mirror on the opposite wall. Two large French windows open out to create a feeling of light and space as well as absolutely charming views of the beautiful Haussman-style building across the street. You simply can’t find such a beautiful and intimate setting like this in most Paris vacation rentals.

And the kitchen is fully outfitted so you can prepare lavish meals. Find a full-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, convection oven, separate microwave, four-burner stove, toaster, coffee maker, and all of the pots, pans, and utensils you’ll need. There is also a full complement of porcelain dishes, cutlery, glasses, and quality linens to set an immaculate table. Choosing Paris vacation rentals over hotel rooms is an easy decision when you add up the cost savings of not having to dine out every meal.

From the dining room of the Sauternes Paris vacation rental walk left into the cozy Paris vacation rental living room. Since this is a rare corner building, Sauternes’ living room boasts three sets of French doors that open out to charming views of the old street. And it features a small balcony with a bistro table and chairs so that you can sit out and toast your stay with a glass of wine in the evening or enjoy your café au lait on sunny mornings. This is an extremely pleasant amenity uncommon in most Paris vacation rentals.

Our Paris vacation rental offers the advantage of air conditioning, with two large portable units that vent to the outside of the apartment. This is rare and a real plus on those warm days in Paris over most other Paris vacation rentals.

The Sauternes Paris vacation rental living room is decorated in a soft and sunny Provencal style, with a yellow sofa accented with pretty yellow check cushions. The comfortably upholstered armchairs were made for us in Belgium and are covered in a Scottish beige and yellow wool plaid fabric that complements the beige and yellow striped curtains. The sofa was made for us in Italy; it flips open without having to remove any cushions to convert to an extra wide single bed. It is excellent quality and good for every night sleeping. The original gray and pink marble fireplace (decorative only) is on the left, and a small white wood and cane coffee table rests on the polished oak parquet floor. A beautiful crystal chandelier that highlights the high ceiling’s intricate crown molding completes this warm and inviting room. You’ll also find a large flat-screen TV with a dual-standard DVD player so you can bring your favorite movies from home, as well as a CD stereo so you can enjoy your favorite music. We’ve also included free wireless Internet access so you can catch up on your emails. What is special about the living room in our Sauternes Paris vacation rental are the three sets of French doors which give a superb feeling of light in the living room. Open one of two sets of French doors and step out on the balcony to get your first glimpse of Paris! There is a small bistro table and two chairs so you can relax here with your café au lait in the morning or a glass of wine at sunset.

Proceed through the door next to the sofa into the master bedroom of the Sauternes Paris vacation rental (or access the master bedroom through the en-suite bathroom immediately to the left off of the entryway). This charming bedroom features a second balcony which, again, is very rare in Paris vacation rentals; step out and enjoy the views down this classic Parisian street or sit out and read on warm afternoons. The bedroom has an extra wide queen-size bed with a wood and cane headboard in Provencal style framed by two antique-style bedside tables with good reading lamps. A large and beautiful antique armoire is on your left and facing the bed is a large marble fireplace (decorative only). The fireplace is topped with a white candelabras and the original oversize white-framed mirror that leads your eyes up to the high ceiling’s finely crafted crown molding. To the left of the fireplace is an antique-style painting of Victorian women out for a stroll in Paris, and to the right is a smaller painting of Victorian women going for a stroll that we found at the flea market. A beautiful crystal chandelier completes the room.

It’s important to note that all of our mattresses are the best quality luxury mattresses, the same as those used in most luxury hotels in Paris. And, as in all of our Paris vacation rentals, we use only the best high thread-count linens and elegant bed coverings available. Staying in any of our Paris vacation rentals means you can count on getting an excellent night’s sleep.

The master bathroom of our Paris vacation rental, which can also be accessed from the entryway, features a bathtub/shower combination, porcelain sink, and toilet. A nice touch here is the mirror that is framed by colorful mosaic tile. Like all of our Paris vacation rentals, you’ll find plenty of plush white towels.

From the entryway, head right past the closet housing the clothes washer and separate dryer and enter the second bathroom of our Paris vacation rental, which features a large shower, toilet, and sink. The Sauternes Paris vacation rental bathroom is decorated in beige tile with small beige mosaics running horizontally, and the chocolate brown floor tiles are a nice contrast. This Paris vacation rental’s recent remodel included new plumbing and the water tank hiding behind the closet in here is the largest we can buy, holding 80 gallons.

Step into the second bedroom of our Paris vacation rental to find two single beds and a charming country décor. The Italian fresco headboards of angels grace this room with shades of blue, and the cotton striped curtains in periwinkle blue match the lampshades. A small desk sits on the left with oval antique white mirror above.

We want you to take full advantage of your Paris stay, so we leave plenty of guide books for your use. And, when you reserve one of our Paris vacation rentals, we’ll send you a comprehensive information packet about the apartment and the neighborhood, including tips on food shopping and restaurants. We employ our own housekeepers and maintenance team, so you can rest assured your apartment will be spotless and fully functional. Also, one of our friendly greeters will meet you when you arrive, ready to explain how all of the appliances operate and answer any questions you may have. Services such as these may not be readily apparent when you shop around for Paris vacation rentals, but they can make all the difference in your stay.

This is a non-smoking apartment.

We are very excited to offer our first Paris vacation rental in the Marais, and we know you will love staying here.
