Description of our Paris apartment

Santenay, our newest apartment, is a large (625 square feet) one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom apartment located in the same charming 1800s building that houses our popular Merlot apartment. When we heard that this west-facing, 3rd floor (4th American) apartment with the same stunning, unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower that Merlot has was available, we jumped on it.

SANTENAY IN DETAIL

Living Room

You enter the apartment to a long hallway that passes left to right with the gorgeous living room straight ahead. This is a large double room we opened up to create a feeling of space and light. It has oak parquet floors and two pairs of beautiful large French doors that open to a view towards the Champ du Mars Gardens and the Eiffel Tower to your right. The room faces west so you can enjoy the sunset over the gardens ahead and behind the Eiffel Tower in the evenings. Outfitted with the same high-quality furniture as all of our apartments and accented with a combination of modern and antique touches, this room provides a most welcoming and warm ambiance. A long sofa which we had made for us in Italy converts to two separate twin beds at night and is excellent for lounging or napping during the day. We’ve provided a flat screen TV, dual standard DVD player, and stereo so you can bring your own music and films to enjoy. You’ll also find free high-speed Internet access so you can catch up on your emails.

Bathroom

Proceed from the entryway down the hallway to the left to first find the toilet, or water closet, immediately on your left. This typical Parisian amenity is very practical and perfect for extra “getting-ready” room before guests head out to explore the city. Next to this half bath is a walk-in closet for plenty of storage. The bathroom is next on the left, complete with a bathtub/shower combination, large sink, a washer/dryer combination and storage cupboards.

Kitchen

Proceed from the entryway down the hallway to the right to find the spacious kitchen directly ahead. It has a large window that overlooks the courtyard and features every appliance necessary for whipping up a gourmet meal. You’ll find a large refrigerator/freezer, oven, four-burner stove, toaster, microwave, Nespresso cappuccino machine, drip coffeemaker, pots and pans, and white porcelain dishes from E. Dehellerin — the shop that furnishes all good Parisian restaurants. The kitchen is large by Parisian standards and a pleasure to use when you bring home fresh foods to prepare after shopping at the local Open Markets.

Bedroom

The large bedroom is also to the right of the entryway, down the hallway to your left. It features a set of French doors that open to the same spectacular views toward the Champs du Mars Gardens and the Eiffel Tower as the living room, an unforgettable delight. There is an extra-wide queen-sized bed, an armchair, desk, and closet for storage. The curtains are a pretty cotton stripe complemented by a coordinating toile de jouy bedspread.

With its unforgettable views and perfect location, along with the convenience, low cost, and enjoyment of dining at home, the value is excellent. You’ll find more Open Markets in our neighborhood than any other arrondissement in Paris with rue Cler, one of the best and most famous market streets in Paris, only four blocks away. It is a highlight of your stay to be able to find the freshest ingredients and prepared dishes to bring home to enjoy, not to mention the cost savings, as our friends recently discovered when they were charged $9 for a bottle of Coca Cola at a small restaurant. We know our guests will love this home away from home in Paris — and will come away with countless memories and pictures of the unforgettable views from this apartment!

Please let me know if you have any other questions; we are happy to help.

Unquestionably one of the best locations in Paris:
  • Breathtaking view of la Grande Dame de Paris, the Eiffel Tower – You invest a lot to come to Paris and you should be rewarded with an unforgettable view of this eternal city from your living room and bedroom windows.
  • The location is simply the best: you are a 3-minute walk to the river; a 15 walk to the Invalides; 10 minutes to the Trocadéro; the Grand Palais and the couturier's on Ave. Montaigne, the Four Seasons George V for tea or 3-star dining; 15-minute walk to the Champs Elysées; 20-minute walk to Place de la Concorde and the Bon Marché department store.
  • You are surrounded by restaurants that local Parisians go to, cafés, bistros and shops.
  • You are six blocks to the golden dome of the Invalides, where Napoleon is buried, along with surrounding park.
  • You are seven blocks to the incredible Rodin Museum.
  • One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks in the center of the city. Walk, run, play in 1 of 3 playgrounds, basketball court, go to the puppet theater or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities in the park, especially after strenuous site seeing. The apartment is next to the American Library, an institution in Paris, and across from an old elementary school built at the turn-of-the-century.
  • The Seine River is three blocks away and right near where the famous Bateau Mouche boat tours begin.
  • Open Markets: Rue Cler is five blocks away, one of the best and most famous streets for food in Paris. Pont de l'Alma is a five-minutes walk and has the largest open market in Paris every Saturday morning. Ave de Saxe is just behind the Ecole Militaire and one of the most upscale markets in Paris, with a focus on organic produce. Finally, the rue de Grenelle Market is 10 minutes walk and has some of the best prices. Merchants come from the country with wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, pâtés, breads, even five types of escargots!

We leave several Paris guidebooks and other information on the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.
This is a non-smoking apartment and, sorry, but no pets are allowed.

We think you will love staying in our Paris apartment!
