The sumptuous bathroom is tiled in beige limestone and has a wonderful lion’s head faucet. We believe in luxurious, practical bathrooms so we built in a bathtub with both fixed and separate flexible German shower heads. There is an 80 gallon hot water tank, the largest you can buy for home use. In most apartments, large hot water tanks are a rarity and it took our builders several ‘do-overs’ to understand that even if they have to be special-ordered, we won’t accept anything smaller.

The powder room is to the left of the kitchen. It has a wc and an antique marble basin from Italy, carved as a gracefull shell. We found it in a salvage yard in Italy. It was made from white Carrara marble over 100 years ago and the old marble is almost translucent. There is a cabinet underneath the sink and behind the wc. We install loads of hooks for hanging things, something we sorely miss in most hotels and apartments.
