Paris Apartments for Sale: Tips and Information

This was our first time renting an apartment as opposed to staying in a hotel. This was wonderful! There is such a difference between a hotel room and an entire apartment!.
(continue)

Our extraordinary Hermitage Paris apartment rental offers luxury, history, and magnificent views upon the Eiffel Tower. Constructed in 1840 on the Fields of Mars (Champs de Mars), the Paris apartment rental we call Hermitage sits at the exact center of the axis of the Eiffel Tower, directly overlooking the beautiful gardens, trees, and footpaths below — and close enough to see the beautiful Art Nouveau scroll work on the tower itself! Owned by descendents of General Lafayette, this two-bedroom/one-bath Paris apartment recently completed a nine-month renovation and comfortably sleeps five. With its spacious, light-filled rooms, a balcony with Eiffel view, and impeccable decorative finishes, staying in our Hermitage Paris apartment rental is sure to provide memories of a lifetime.

Description of Paris apartment rental

Located on the fourth floor (fifth American, with elevator) in a Paris Haussmanian building, our two-bedroom, one-bath Hermitage Paris apartment rental comfortably sleeps five people in a luxurious and historic setting. Just as Hermitage wines, the most famous of all Rhone Valley wines, are known for their deep red color, robust flavor, and long life, our Hermitage Paris apartment is sure to be one of our most popular and pleasing rentals for many years to come.

The apartment location and floor plan are impressive: the apartment living room, dining room, balcony, and both bedrooms all face west with direct, close-up views of the Grande Dame. Measuring 1,300 square feet, this Paris apartment rental is an enfilade (a linear arrangement of a series of rooms, providing a beautiful vista when the doors are open) and all rooms are spacious and sunny. The apartment has been completely renovated, exquisitely decorated, and finely furnished, providing guests with a sense of opulence matched only by a convincing belief of occupying the very best accommodations Paris has to offer.

This magnificent Paris apartment rental is historically unique as well. The apartment was built before the Grande Exposition and the construction of the Eiffel Tower. The apartment has been used in many movies, including Les Trois Soeurs, just for the apartment's decoration — not even the view! Our friends who own the Hermitage Paris apartment trace their history back generations; in fact, the portrait in the apartment dining room is of an ancestor who was in the court of Louis XV. The building was constructed in 1840 on the Fields of Mars (Champs de Mars), which gained fame when the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889. The current owner's great grandfather was born in this Paris apartment and, of course, was there during the Great Exhibition when the Grande Dame was built. Her grandfather was a child at the time and remembered this historic time vividly. In the second apartment bedroom there is a small statue of Lafayette because the family is a descendant of this great General and ally of the United States during the Revolutionary War.

Located only one block from the Seine just off the elegant, tree-lined Ave de la Bourdonnais — among the most sought-after avenues in Paris — the Paris apartment rental boasts Princess Caroline of Monaco and other famous actors and personalities, such as Isabelle Adjani and Catherine Deneuve, as neighbors. Of course, the piece de resistance of this Paris apartment rental is the view; stand at the apartment living room, dining room, master bedroom, or second bedroom windows and see La Grande Dame de Paris directly ahead of you in all her glory. It’s wonderful to open all the apartment windows to take in the sights and sounds of Paris. It’s beautiful any time of day, but it’s quite magical at night when it lights up and glows softly at sunset. Then, every hour on the hour, the magical 10-minute light show begins — the same one used for the Millennium celebrations — and the apartment rental is so close you can even hear the applause from the onlookers. Whether you have been to Paris only once or 100 times, it is simply captivating and unforgettable.

Step into this beautiful Haussmanian Paris apartment building on Rue de l’Université and take the elevator to the fourth floor (fifth American). Walk into the spacious Paris apartment rental entryway with the large dining room and balcony overlooking the Champs de Mars directly ahead. To the right of the apartment dining room is the large living room featuring three large windows: two overlooking the Champs de Mars and one onto a small side street. To the left of the apartment entryway is a long corridor, off of which are the kitchen and bathroom on the left, both overlooking a pretty inner courtyard, and the master bedroom and second bedroom on the right, both overlooking the Champ de Mars. All apartment rooms can be closed off with doors ensuring total privacy when needed.

You are immediately drawn into the dining room of our Paris apartment rental, both for its elegance and the sunny views it offers. Step out onto the apartment balcony through a double set of French doors to a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower, La Grande Dame de Paris. You can even see the Jules Verne restaurant from here! A bistro table and chairs ensure you’ll be able to enjoy a glass of champagne or dine inside without missing the magnificent views. Back inside the apartment, a beautiful country-style table for eight in antique white provides a most romantic setting. The table sits below a white metal chandelier and atop a luxurious white rug over a herringbone parquet floor. On the left side of the apartment dining room is an antique white marble fireplace below a large framed mirror, and the ancestral portrait graces the right wall above an antique side table that sits between two antique armchairs upholstered in red. The apartment dining room features immaculate wainscoting, crown molding, and doorframes, all in a lustrous white. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more inviting setting for experiencing fine French food, certainly not with a view as offered here. Compared to what you would spend for tiny hotel rooms and numerous restaurant meals every day, you will find the space, views, and amenities of our Paris apartment rental to be an exceptional value.

Step onto the Paris apartment balcony and savor the view; a marble bistro table and chairs mean you can buy the Herald Tribune across the street and enjoy café au lait and croissants every morning — or toast your stay with champagne in the company of friends and family at sunset. The apartment view and location are unmatched; Princess Caroline of Monaco owns a Paris apartment on Ave de la Bourdonnais, where the gilded Royal Crest adorns every balcony of the apartment. Pinch yourself that you are in a better location as our Paris apartment rental has the better position, directly in front of the Grande Dame de Paris!

The apartment living room, off the dining room to the right, is completely Parisian: three tall French doors surround you in sunlight. Two face the Champ de Mars and the Grande Dame de Paris; one looks out over the side street, and all the French doors and windows in the Paris apartment rental are draped in beautiful ivory-colored silk curtains. Two matching sofas, one of which doubles as a sleeper for one or two, are upholstered in tan and face each other in the center of the apartment living room on an area rug, so as to complement the beautifully refinished herringbone parquet floors. Stylish lamps, matching coffee and side tables, and pleasing artwork complete this perfectly furnished room. The effect is comfort and luxury for your stay in Paris. It is simply wonderful to relax in and come home to every day.

For entertainment, you’ll find a flat screen TV and dual-standard DVD player so you can bring your favorite movies and play them while admiring the view from the apartment. We have installed satellite so you can watch CNN, CNBC etc. There is also a CD stereo, so bring your favorite selections to play or choose from a small selection that we provide. We’ve also installed high-speed Internet access so you can download emails and work while admiring the view.

The apartment kitchen, on your left as you enter this Paris apartment rental, is decorated in brown and beige tile with white cabinetry and features a large window overlooking the courtyard for morning sun. Professionally designed to utilize every square inch, it features loads of counter space, plenty of cabinets, and all new modern appliances. There is a full-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, four-burner stovetop and washer/dryer combination so you can cook to your heart’s content. We stock our apartment kitchens with restaurant quality porcelain from the company that supplies the finest restaurants in Paris. In addition, find a Nespresso espresso and cappuccino maker, coffee maker, toaster, and every accessory we think you might need for cooking. Paris and la vie Parisienne revolve around food, and the advantage to staying in this wonderful quartier is that it has three open markets nearby with the famous Rue Cler market street only a few blocks away. You can shop for the freshest ingredients as well as already prepared dishes daily and enjoy fine dining at the apartment, with the most romantic views in Paris.

Having a fully functional kitchen and an elegant dining room are two of the many advantages of staying in a Paris apartment rental as you don’t have to dine out for every meal, but can enjoy hosting family and friends without having to get dressed up every evening. The French have mastered the art of ready-prepared foods, so you don’t even have to cook every meal. Children love buying fresh warm croissants at the patisserie on the corner each morning, or picking out a special dessert for lunch or dinner. Our guests tell us that shopping for fresh bread and desserts is the highlight of their children’s visit!

The large apartment bathroom, further down the hall on the left, has been completely remodeled in a most dramatic fashion. The large white porcelain sink is built into an extravagant counter supported by two bold columns with the large mirror artistically integrated into the design. A full-size Jacuzzi tub also features both fixed and flexible hose shower options, and only the best and plushest towels await you on the heated towel rack. Guests won’t be able to help anxiously awaiting their turn to use this pleasing spa, and they shouldn’t have any trouble getting the kids into the tub.

The master bedroom of our Paris apartment rental, next to the dining room, is a large room that also has a French window with the same fantastic views. Down the hall is a large walk-in closet for storing all your clothes and suitcases, beautiful antique bedside tables with lamps, and herringbone parquet floors. All the beds in this Paris apartment rental are quality beds from the supplier who furnishes luxury hotels, making it hard to wrest yourself from bed in the morning, especially with the views. This apartment master bedroom features an extra-wide queen-size bed (63 inches wide versus 60 for American queens), and we use only the best 350-thread-count linens and quality comforters, ensuring you’ll always get a great night’s sleep.

Last on the right, next to the apartment master bedroom, is the second bedroom of our Paris apartment rental. It features two hotel luxury quality single beds and a large window overlooking the Grande Dame de Paris and Champ de Mars. While you are on a busy street in the middle of a bustling city, this Paris apartment is quiet! All the apartment windows have wooden shutters to close off the light as needed. An antique mahogany desk sits opposite the beds, so you can write or catch up on emails when you are home.

At sunset, enjoy a short stroll to the romantic river where you can catch the famous boat ride down the river. Walk to the Grande Dame and simply enjoy the architectural beauty from below or run up the stairs for exercise. The Trocadéro, is directly across the river, is another beautiful walk, or take a longer stroll to the Musée d’Orsay, the Invalides, or the Musée Rodin.

In the apartment, you’ll find a large selection of Paris guidebooks and other information on the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.

We believe in only offering a Paris apartment rental that has unforgettable views and fine furnishings. You invest a lot to come here and every occasion is special — showing Paris to someone you love, getting together with good friends, marking a special birthday or anniversary, showing Paris to your children for the first time. We want all of you to fall in love with Paris and return home with warm memories that will stay with you forever. The unforgettable views from the apartment at dawn or sunrise, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, and the warm furnishings in a beautiful Paris apartment rental all combine to make your stay a memory of a lifetime. We do little advertising because our guests come back year after year or send their friends and family.

This is a non-smoking vacation apartment rental and, sorry, but no pets are allowed.

We think this is among the most elegant and comfortable Paris apartment rental we offer, and our many guests agree! Please view our guest books on our site where guests have written about their stay with us, with their email addresses so you can contact them directly.
