Description of our Gigondas apartment rental in Paris

Our large Paris short term apartment rental is located on the Left Bank, center of Paris, and measures over 2,000 square feet, making it a perfect home for your stay. Its unique features give it the feel of a luxury ocean liner of the 1930’s, from the vaulted wooden ceilings, to the parquet floors and gracious décor. This air conditioned Paris short term apartment rental offers the rare benefit of air conditioning. The five bedrooms and four bathrooms in our short term Paris rental are ideal for larger groups who want to celebrate a family reunion or enjoy a special trip with friends who want to have an unforgettable vacation in Paris.

Our Gigondas vacation apartment, named after this excellent wine, is located in a modern building close to Eiffel Tower and the beautiful Champ de Mars Gardens, literally across the street. When in the kitchen you can actually gaze at La Grande Dame de Paris in amazing size and splendor, through skylights in the living dining room and from three bedrooms. Walk opposite the street, one block and you are there! Kids love to run up the stairs to first and second level or simply stroll over there after dinner and enjoy the fact that you are really in Paris!

Take the large elevator to the 5th floor and enter the main door of our Paris short-term apartment rental. The first small bedroom is straight ahead. A single bed is facing a French door with small balcony where you can step out and enjoy the view. Find an en suite small bathroom with a shower and a sink. A separate toilet is just outside the bedroom.

Walk up a short flight of stairs to find an enormous living and dining room, with stunning vaulted wooden ceilings, parquet floors and a private terrace, simply spectacular. When we walked into it for the first time we were astonished to find gorgeous vaulted ceilings and a large private terrace which the main rooms wrap around, as we have never seen all of these features in central Paris. There are large windows everywhere, floor to ceiling and the light comes streaming in. These features are almost impossible to find in central Paris and we think they turn your stay into a memory of a lifetime.

Enter the spacious living and dining room to vaulted wood ceilings, parquet floors and the feel of a luxury cruise liner. The living room has a long sofa by the fireplace and a beautiful pair of comfortable art deco chairs, restored and covered in velvet which we found at the Puces antiques market. The sofa has yellow Hermes-style fabric and sits in front of floor- to-ceiling glass windows. These windows overlook gardens below and towards another upscale apartment building.

But the real piece de resistance is the fact that the living leads right onto a spacious private terrace. Step onto it to find a long high quality teak dining table, large white umbrella, a separate marble bistro table and armchairs, small olive and pine trees and beautiful box hedge plants. Enjoy café au lait while everyone is sleeping, cocktails or dinner on warm nights.

By the fireplace (decorative only) is a plasma flat screen tv with dual standard dvd player so you can watch the American movies you bring. There is a cd player for listening to good music while enjoying friends and family.

The long oval dining table of aluminum and sandblasted glass is from Italy, adding a modern look. The table seats up to 9 people. The dining chairs are upholstered in beige suede fabric and blend with the colors in this large room.

Beyond the dining table find the large kitchen tiled in yellow French tiles with modern white cabinets. Technical details next, but where else on the earth can you prepare meals and do dishes while enjoying a close-up view of the Eiffel Tower? Wait until nightfall when the magic light show starts every hour on the hour for ten minutes, and everyone will want to help do dishes. The kitchen is very large by Parisian standards and easy to work in and prepare large meals. Find a rectangular tile table and two chairs for quick meals, a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, convection oven, microwave, espresso maker, drip coffee pot, four-burner stove, toaster, tons of cabinets....serving dishes and everything you need for lots of cooking.

Leave the living room and head towards the built-in bar to the bedrooms. The long bar is tiled in traditional dark blue French tiles and the hallway has parquet floors. Four barstools makes this a convivial meeting point for champagne and aperitifs at the end of a long day. Relax and admire the view trough the roof windows, or the private terrace which the vacation apartment wraps around.

Behind the bar is a small seating area and small mattress for relaxing and watching the view through the roof windows. We had cushions made for this small space, which children love to lay on and relax. At night, it’s hard to get them away from their special corner.

Continue down the carpeted corridor to find bedroom 2/TV room on your right. The sofa is excellent and it is an ingenious design which converts to twin bunkbeds at night. Simply pull up the arms and voilà, they move upward to make a bunk bed with lower and upper beds, ladder and security bar. There is a tv and a second dvd player (dual standard so you can bring your favorite movies) so the kids can have their own room to relax in while the adults can enjoy their own company in the living or at the bar. There is cable reception for English channels such as CNN, Sky and CNBC.

On your left are toilets two and three, each with small sinks for extra getting ready room. The French believe in building toilets separate from their bathrooms for extra privacy.

The spacious mater bedroom, bedroom 3 is next on your right, large and comfortable with enormous glass windows which overlook gardens below. There is an extra wide queen sized bed (63 inches wide rather than the standard 60” width), with the highest quality Pillowtop mattress by Sealy. It is hard to get out of bed in the mornings! We have decorated the bedroom in bright yellows and royal blues, painted wooden headboard with simple designs and beautiful colors.

The master bedroom leads to its own en suite bathroom and separate dressing room with shower, bathtub and dual sinks.

Opposite the master bedroom are bedrooms 4 and 5. Bedroom 4 has two single beds which can be made up as twins or dual king. They are also Sealy pillowtop mattresses and you sink into them at night. Stand at the window or lay in bed and admire the view of the Eiffel Tower just 1 ½ blocks away. The bedroom has an en suite bathroom tiled in beige with bathtub/shower and sink.

Bedroom five has two high quality single beds; one by the window and the other on the opposite wall. As with the fourth bedroom, there is an equal view from the window and the first bed. A bath in beiges is en suite and has a bathtub with a shower and a sink.

At the corridor end is a separate laundry room with full sized washer and dryer, iron and drying rack. There are lots of closets throughout the vacation apartment and you will not need additional storage!

The terrace, view, location and wonderful Parisian 1930’s style mean you will have a wonderful, relaxing and unforgettable stay in the City of Lights! We leave several Paris guidebooks and other information on the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.

This is a non-smoking vacation apartment and, sorry, but no pets are allowed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about our Paris vacation apartment rental or if we can help in any way. We think your stay at www.parisperfect.com will bring you memories of a lifetime.

Please see our link on Paris Shopping for more details.
    • You are ten minutes walk away from the Four Seasons George V or Plaza Athenee’ Hotel where the final episode of Sex and the City was filmed. Relax in either for tea or 3-star dining after a hard day of shopping. You will appreciate even more our luxurious apartments with unforgettable views when you check the prices of their rooms!

    • You are 20-minutes walk to the Place de la Concorde, La Madeleine.
    • 35 minutes to the department stores on Blvd. Haussman.

  • Rue Cler is seven blocks away, one of the best and most famous streets for food in Paris; open every day including Sunday morning but many shops are closed on Mondays. Our favorite cheese merchant is here; tell them which day you wish to eat it and they will hand pick the perfect selection!
  • Pont de l'Alma is five-minutes walk and has the largest open market of Paris every Wednesday and Saturday morning.
  • Ave de Saxe is open on Thursday and Saturdays and is undoubtedly among the most beautiful in Paris. Find many organic and deluxe food stands.

  • You are surrounded by restaurants that local Parisians go to, cafés, bistros and shops.
  • One block to Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks in city center. Walk, run, play in 1 of 3 playgrounds, basketball court, go to the puppet theater or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities in the park, especially after strenuous site seeing.
  • You are four blocks from the Ecole Militaire where Napoléon attended military school. This became Napoleon’s headquarters and housed his elite Emperor’s Troops in 1795. The buildings still show signs of the gunfire from the French Revolution in 1789 and the shelling when the Prussians declared war on France in 1870, to defeat Napoleon III. There are four statues on the façade representing: Might, Peace, Victory and France. The statue of Victory is of Louis XV, one of the only ones remaining as the rest were destroyed during the French Revolution.
  • 15 minutes to the Invalides, a masterpiece of French Classical architecture built by Louis XIV. Napoleon’s tomb rests under the golden dome. Here is the Musee de l’Armee, probably housing the world finest collection of arms, armour and uniforms; it is especially renowned for its enormous collection of Medieval Armor.
  • You are 15 minutes to the incredible Rodin Museum; four blocks to Chirac’s new Museum of Ethnic Arts.
  • The vacation apartment is near to the American Library, an institution in Paris where you can take out a daily membership and catch up on the news, read, and work and use their internet facilities.
  • In January 2005, the Eiffel Tower converted the first floor into an ice skating rink 189 feet high above the rooftops of Paris; we hope it will continue every year.
  • We think you will love staying in Gigondas, a stunning vacation apartment in Paris.

Please let me know if you have any other questions; we are happy to help.
